Estos manuscritos eran muy comunes en esta regi\u00f3n y estaban presentes en todo tipo de situaciones sociales. Los tonalamatl, o libros de d\u00edas y destinos, eran utilizados por sabios especializados para hacer predicciones sobre temas muy diversos, como la suerte de un reci\u00e9n nacido o la de un grupo que pretend\u00eda emprender una guerra o una conquista. Los xiuhamatl, o libros de los a\u00f1os, relataban las historias de los grupos desde el punto de vista de las \u00e9lites gobernantes, normalmente sus principales productores. Hab\u00eda otros tipos de c\u00f3dices, que conten\u00edan narraciones cosmol\u00f3gicas, registros tributarios o ciclos astron\u00f3micos. En la actualidad, los c\u00f3dices originales mesoamericanos se encuentran en bibliotecas y archivos de pa\u00edses europeos, Estados Unidos y, sobre todo, del propio M\u00e9xico, donde algunos c\u00f3dices tambi\u00e9n pertenecen a comunidades ind\u00edgenas actuales y son objetos que conforman sus identidades comunitarias. A trav\u00e9s de la exhibici\u00f3n de ediciones facsimilares de estos manuscritos, acompa\u00f1adas de material explicativo y charlas, la exposici\u00f3n C\u00f3dices Mexicanos: Escritura, Im\u00e1genes y Debates ayud\u00f3 a estudiantes, investigadores, profesores y dem\u00e1s interesados a conocer un poco la historia y la cultura de los pueblos amerindios que produjeron estos libros que, lamentablemente, suelen ser objeto de poca atenci\u00f3n o de fuertes prejuicios por parte de una parte importante de la sociedad nacional brasile\u00f1a.<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 La exposici\u00f3n tuvo lugar entre el 24 y el 30 de julio de 2017 en el edificio Eur\u00edpedes Sim\u00f5es de Paula de la Facultad de Letras, Filosof\u00eda y Ciencias Humanas de la Universidad de S\u00e3o Paulo y cont\u00f3 con diez documentos mesoamericanos. Ediciones facs\u00edmiles similares de muchos de estos manuscritos ind\u00edgenas est\u00e1n disponibles en bibliotecas de la USP, como la Biblioteca Florestan Fernandes (C\u00f3dices Borgia, Cospi, Borb\u00f3nico, Vaticano B, Vindobonense, Dresden, Zouche-Nuttall y Chimalpopoca) y en la Biblioteca del Museu de Arqueologia y Etnologia (c\u00f3dices Azoy\u00fa, Borgia, Laud, Cospi, Vindobonense, Fej\u00e9rv\u00e1ry-Mayer, Zouche-Nuttall, Egerton o Sanchez Sol\u00eds e Becker II, Xicotepec, Mendoza, Matr\u00edcula de Tributos, Dresde).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5f5b2ef e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5f5b2ef\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;,&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-93147f9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"93147f9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5>\u00a0<\/h5><h5><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00bf Qu\u00e9 \u00e9s Mesoam\u00e9rica?<\/span><\/strong><\/h5><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 El concepto de Mesoam\u00e9rica se refiere a una amplia zona de la Am\u00e9rica ind\u00edgena, cuya delimitaci\u00f3n se basa en caracter\u00edsticas culturales y procesos hist\u00f3ricos que habr\u00edan sido compartidos por innumerables poblaciones en el periodo prehisp\u00e1nico y cuya vigencia se prolongar\u00eda hasta el periodo colonial. Las caracter\u00edsticas hist\u00f3ricas y culturales m\u00e1s mencionadas para definir a los pueblos mesoamericanos son: el cultivo del ma\u00edz como base de su alimentaci\u00f3n, la producci\u00f3n de papel y pulque (bebida alcoh\u00f3lica fermentada) a partir del agave (maguey, planta de la misma familia que el sisal), el uso de pr\u00e1cticas de autoflagelaci\u00f3n y sacrificios humanos con fines pol\u00edtico-ceremoniales, el cultivo del cacao, la construcci\u00f3n de pir\u00e1mides escalonadas, la pr\u00e1ctica del juego de pelota y la fabricaci\u00f3n de armas de madera con filo de piedra, principalmente obsidiana y s\u00edlex. A estas caracter\u00edsticas se suman otras m\u00e1s ligadas al \u00e1mbito del pensamiento: la utilizaci\u00f3n de un sistema calend\u00e1rico preciso basado en dos ciclos concurrentes, la creencia en la existencia de varios soles o edades anteriores del mundo, la divisi\u00f3n del espacio horizontal en cuatro direcciones y un centro y del espacio vertical en trece cielos y nueve inframundos, la producci\u00f3n de libros y la presencia de tres troncos ling\u00fc\u00edsticos (macro-otomangue, macromaya y uto-asteca).<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 Geogr\u00e1ficamente, los pueblos que compart\u00edan estas caracter\u00edsticas comunes habitaban, en la \u00e9poca prehisp\u00e1nica, la regi\u00f3n que se extiende desde el centro de Honduras y el noroeste de Costa Rica hasta M\u00e9xico, donde sus fronteras son los estados de Tamaulipas (r\u00edo Soto la Marina) y Sinaloa (r\u00edo Fuerte), y de una a otra costa mar\u00edtima. Esta unidad es notable desde el llamado Periodo Cl\u00e1sico (principios de la era cristiana hasta el siglo IX) hasta al menos el siglo XVII.<\/p><p><a
